Ajay Kumra teaches with a relaxed, approachable manner while preserving the seriousness of traditional training. Students who expect either a fitness class or a boot camp tend to find neither — the atmosphere is informal, the standards are not.
His martial study began outside the internal arts, in Taekwondo, Bajiquan, and other systems. That broad foundation shapes how he teaches now: he is unusually good at meeting students where their existing training left them, rather than requiring them to discard it.
Ajay has trained under Master James McNeil, whose public lineage includes study with Chiao Chang-Hung in Little Nine Heaven, Hsing-I, Ba Kua, Chen Tai-Chi, Tzu Men, Splashing Hands, Iron Hand, and related internal and external methods. Master McNeil's own training traces through Pan Wing-Chow, Hsu Hong-Chi, Ching Chen-Yen, Haumea Lefiti, and Ralph Shun.
Instruction is offered on a personal basis rather than through open enrolment. Prior experience is not required — several current students began with none. What matters is whether someone intends to keep showing up.
If that describes you, send an inquiry and say something about what draws you to the arts. Those messages are read personally.
